Opportunity report · Egypt · October 2026

Egypt, the future of global investment

A stable haven in a volatile region, Africa's largest destination for foreign investment, and a wave of construction, tourism and events that turns into physical demand for local fabrication every day. This report shows where the opportunity sits, and why its centre is construction fabrication and events.

In brief

Egypt is Africa's largest destination for foreign direct investment ($15.5 billion in 2025), and the IMF projects 4.5% growth with inflation falling to 11.8% in 2026. Ahead of it sit a $565.5 billion construction pipeline and 19 million tourists a year, and that spending turns into direct demand for three local fabrication markets: exhibitions and events, architectural facades, and commercial and seasonal décor.

Why Egypt, why now

Seven reasons the timing favours those who enter now.

Stability you can measure

Egypt is a stable haven in a volatile region. The IMF projects faster growth and inflation falling to roughly a third of its level within two years.3

$15.5B

Africa's first destination for foreign capital

Egypt led the continent in 2025 for the fourth year, according to UNCTAD's World Investment Report 2026.1 The 2024 figure was exceptional because of the Ras El Hekma deal; excluding one-off megadeals, foreign investment grew about 25%.2

One location, three continents

Egypt sits where Africa, Asia and Europe meet, on both the Mediterranean and the Red Sea, and owns the Suez Canal. The Suez Canal Economic Zone drew $7 billion in a single year across 117 projects.15

109.5M

A domestic market at continental scale

Residents in Egypt, per CAPMAS. Demand for housing, retail and leisure is domestic at its core and does not depend on exports.5

Local labour, local materials

A deep pool of skilled trades, a private-sector minimum wage of EGP 7,000 a month since March 2025, and local supply of the core fabrication materials: steel, aluminium, timber, acrylic and fibreglass. Costs are paid in pounds, value is priced in a growing market.17

An open trade gateway

Agreements give goods made in Egypt preferential access to Africa, Europe, the Arab world and the United States. The strategic partnership with the European Union is backed by a €7.4 billion package for 2024 to 2027.1118

Sectors to watch

Five sectors drive the spending. All of them need someone to fabricate on the ground.

AReal estate & infrastructure

The New Administrative Capital, New Alamein, and Ras El Hekma and Alam El Roum on the North Coast. About $120 billion of projects are already under construction.8

BIndustry

The Suez Canal Economic Zone is drawing export-oriented manufacturing, with $7 billion of new investment in one year.15

CTourism & hospitality

19 million tourists in 2025, up 21%, with charter flights up 32%. Every new hotel room and resort means facades, décor and events.419

DEnergy

Renewables and green hydrogen sit at the centre of the EU partnership, and EGYPES, the Egypt Energy Show, is a fixed annual platform for the sector in Cairo.1120

ELogistics

The Suez Canal, ports on two seas and linked industrial zones make Egypt a natural distribution hub toward Africa, the Gulf and Europe.15

The common thread: construction fabrication & events

Real estate needs facades, tourism needs fitted-out hotels, malls and dressed seasons, and industry and energy sell through exhibitions. All of these sectors end at the same link: local fabrication delivered on schedule.

The core opportunity

Construction fabrication & events: where spending becomes physical demand.

Three integrated markets fed by the same wave: exhibitions and events, architectural facades, and commercial and seasonal décor. They share the same factories, materials and installation crews, but their demand peaks fall at different times. That is what makes them one strong sector rather than three fragile markets.

Exhibitions, conferences & events

Cairo is now a fixed stop on the regional trade-fair map, and its major shows set records edition after edition. Every stand, stage and backdrop is fabricated locally and installed in days.

Drivers

  • Egypt hosts the EBRD Annual Meeting in Sharm El Sheikh in 202712
  • Cairo hosted the UFI Middle East & Africa conference in 2025 with its largest turnout yet: 160 leaders from 26 countries13
  • Fixed annual sector shows: Big 5 Construct Egypt (300+ exhibitors from 20+ countries, 20,000 visitors), EGYPES, Cairo ICT, HACE920

Why the economics are healthy

  • Recurring demand: the same shows return every year on the same dates, with the same exhibitors
  • Immovable deadlines make quality and speed of delivery the selection criteria
  • High value-add: joinery, metalwork, print and lighting under one roof

Architectural facades: cladding & curtain wall

Every new office, hospital, hotel and mall needs a facade. With a pipeline this size, the facade is the stage where the developer's schedule meets local fabrication capacity.

Drivers

  • New Administrative Capital: a $55 billion project9
  • New cities and the North Coast: New Alamein, Ras El Hekma, Alam El Roum67
  • Government buildings, banks, hospitals and stadiums upgrading their facades

Why the economics are healthy

  • Local fabrication of panels and substructure cuts reliance on imports and shipping lead times
  • Contracts with clear stages and engineering specs agreed upfront
  • A facade contract opens the door to signage and interior work in the same building

C

Commercial & seasonal décor

Malls, hotels and gated communities compete for visitors, and the seasons are where that competition happens: Ramadan, summer on the coast, Christmas and New Year. Seasonal décor is a fixed marketing budget that renews every year.

19Mtourists in 2025 filling hotels and malls4
109.5Mlocal consumers celebrating multiple religious and social seasons5

Drivers

  • New malls and retail projects in New Cairo, Sheikh Zayed and on the coast
  • Hotels and resorts welcoming a record tourist season4
  • Brands spending on live experiences and 3D fibreglass installations

Why the economics are healthy

  • Annual dates known in advance allow production and materials planning
  • The same client returns every season, often with more than one site
  • Bespoke builds for each brand carry high added value

The demand calendar: a full year with no dead season

Fixed trade fairs, fixed seasons and long-running facade projects fall in different months, so factory load spreads across the year.

Measured, controlled risk

Every market carries risk. Here is why this one is controlled.

50%

Advance payment on signing

The Task's contracting practice: half the contract value is paid on signing. Materials are bought with the project's own funds, and cash never runs ahead of the work.

12/12

Demand that recurs every year

Fixed fairs on fixed dates, fixed seasons every year, and long-running facade projects. Demand can be forecast and planned for before it arrives.

EGP

Local materials and labour

Relying on Egyptian materials and crews limits exposure to global supply-chain swings, shipping lead times and import costs.17

3×

Diversification against any single market

If one market slows, the other two continue. Exhibitions, facades and seasonal décor have different drivers and seasons, and share the same production base.

How big is Egypt's construction market?

Knight Frank puts the future project pipeline at about $565.5 billion, with roughly $120 billion under construction, making Egypt the third-largest construction market in MENA. The sector is projected to grow 8.39% a year, and Greater Cairo accounts for 48% of activity.89

Does Egypt host major international exhibitions and conferences?

Yes. Food Africa 2025 drew about 1,200 exhibitors from 51 countries and 37,000 visitors, Sharm El Sheikh hosted COP27 with more than 33,000 registered participants, Cairo hosted the 2025 UFI Middle East & Africa conference, and Egypt hosts the EBRD Annual Meeting in 2027.10141312

How is risk managed in construction fabrication and events projects?

Through four factors: a 50% advance payment on signing, demand that recurs every year with fixed shows and seasons, reliance on local materials and labour, and three markets with different drivers and seasons. This does not remove risk, but it keeps it measured and controlled.

What does The Task offer companies entering the Egyptian market?

The Task is a Cairo manufacturer founded in 2010, working from three factories with three integrated divisions: architectural facades, exhibitions and events, and signage and seasonal décor.
